Happy New Year! It’s still ok to say, Happy New Year,
right???!! I never really got the whole New Year, new you, new start thing.
Probably because I was in the classroom full time and the New Year always felt
like a halfway mark, instead of a new beginning. BUT this year I totally get
it. To be very honest, 2015 was an extremely hard year for me. I looked forward
to 2016, but we were also in the middle of moving. Yeah, that’s no fun at all!
I do NOT recommend moving around the holidays. We moved into our current home
on New Year’s Eve 1 year ago. I can’t believe it has already been a year!
2016 was a big year of self reflection. It was a year to
decide what do I want to do! What is my passion and how can I do what I
love. My mom gave me the book, Chasing Failure, at the beginning of last year.
And this book hit hard to the core. What if I tried something and failed? Who
cares, at least I tried. So around 1 year ago today I started praying about starting
a blog. In July, I launched Dream Lilly and it has been such a fun and rewarding
decision. I have a lot to work on, improve, build, etc but I genuinely get
excited and love to work on my blog and all that comes with it. If you are unfamiliar with Chasing Failure by Ryan Leak and want to be
inspired, I highly recommend the book and check out this video too!
Back to New Year, new you…… I totally get it!! I am excited
for this year! I have goals. Attainable
goals. Our whole home will probably not get fully furnished again this year, but
I will fix the toilet seat in our master bathroom and Evan Lilly’s drain in her
bathroom =) ***Side note.... Chris actually fixed the drain last week. I am a little later than I expected with this post! But look at that, a New Year's goal we can already check off our list! HaHa Of course, I have bigger goals too…
1. I want to get organized! Like Pinterest worthy organized.
Remember I said attainable, and I feel like I can really do this. We moved to this
home for the space and I finally have a crafts/entertaining closet, and it
currently looks like a bomb went off. If you ask my friends, I am a super
organized person. For some reason, since the move things just never got put
away like they should. I can't believe I am about to do this, but I want to be real! Check out these BEFORE pics of my crafts closet! Warning!!!! It's bad! I can't wait for the day to post the after! =)
2. Home Décor goals……oh how I have lots planned for 2017, but I
have to remember it takes time and money and it will not all happen this year.
However, I can’t wait to share some things I am currently working on. Interior decorating is definitely a passion of mine and I can’t wait to get to work. Check out these BEFORE pictures of when we first moved in! It was a total disaster. We got rid of lots before the move and even more after. Maybe you'll be able to see some changes and progress we've already made by taking a look at these...

3. Health- I would consider myself a somewhat healthy person.
What I want to get back to this year is my running. Again, since the move I
have lost my running routine. There was a time I would run 4 half marathons in
a year. In 2016 I ran none! A couple 10k’s but that’s it!
4. I want to put myself out there more. As a blogger this is a
must! I want to put
myself out there to grow Dream Lilly and have an outlet for my creativity. I
want to meet other bloggers, attend conferences, and learn.
5. Family
time… In no way is this my least important goal, because it’s last. In fact it
is quite the opposite. This is my most important goal. 2016 got away from me
quick and after having Evan Lilly I feel like time flies even faster. I want my
family to be my number one priority. I still have big dreams and goals, but I
want to work my professional goals around my life and my family and not the
other way around. I want to say no more and be present. This past Christmas was
rough! It’s always gone in a blink, but 6 Christmas parties and 2 birthday parties in one week…..that’s
pure insanity. So here is my first book for 2017 and I am hoping it teaches me
that I don’t have to say yes to everything.
I am also starting a new book with my Wednesday night Bible study! I am excited to see what God has to teach me to start out 2017.
Thank y'all for joining me on this
journey! Your love and support really means the world to me! So let’s do this
2017!!! Do you have any goals, hopes, aspirations for this year?
XOXO,
My basement unit flooded at 10 pm on the 4th of July holiday weekend after a heavy rainfall and failed sump pump. They were there within a couple of hours and immediately extracted all water.Flood Damage Repair
